Jennifer Hetherington and Marg Doherty met 15 years ago when working for a large mid-tier legal firm in Brisbane CBD.

Jennifer led the family law team, and Marg was the firm’s general manager.

Both separated and divorced during this time, and they developed a bond, supporting each other not only professionally but personally.

Marg and Jennifer realised from their personal experiences that the traditional family law legal firm model does not provide adequate support for those who are experiencing separation and divorce.

They are also adamant that divorce is not a death sentence and the divorce process does not have to be about merely surviving.

Rather, it is an opportunity to discover who you are, who you want to be and how you want to live your life. It is a time to focus on you and to actively put plan so that you can thrive. It is about closing one chapter of your life and becoming a strong, confident, independent and happy person post divorce.

On this basis Divorce Hub was born…the first of its kind.
Helping you thrive…beyond divorce.

A Brisbane family law firm who are not just lawyers

Our Brisbane family lawyers believe it is essential you spend your family law fees where they can work the hardest for you.

There are many stages and aspects of a family law matter, and not all of those stages require the same skills.
But in particular, you don't always need a lawyer helping you with some of the aspects of your matter.
In fact, Divorce Hub and Divorce Hub Legal work together, to ensure the most cost-effective and efficient approach to your family law matter.
When you work with Divorce Hub and Divorce Hub Legal's Brisbane family lawyers,
you will work with the team member with the right level of skills and family law experience,
to make your family law fees go further.

We provide free online tools to help you prepare in your own time and space.
If you wish to, you can also prepare some documents to further reduce your fees.
Regardless of which Divorce Hub team member or Brisbane family lawyer is working on your matter, an Accredited Family Law Specialist
is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the high standards we expect of ourselves
- and you can expect from us -
are maintained.

Keeping you out of Court

Our family lawyers and the Divorce Hub team believe that the Family Court should be a place of last resort.

There are many options for reaching a family law agreement and divorce without court including Mediation and Collaborative Practice.

Award winning family law team

We are a multi-award winning and nominated team.

Our Client Service Charter

Divorce Hub and our Brisbane Family Law team commit to you that...

We will be responsive

If you telephone, and we are unable to take your call, we will return your call promptly.

If the family lawyer who is assisting you with your matter is unable to call you back within the time frame you need,
another member of our Brisbane family law team will call you to discuss your query.

That team member will provide as much assistance as they can
and will take responsibility for ensuring the balance of your queries are answered as soon as possible.
If you email us, and we are not available to answer emails within a short time frame,
you will receive an out of office message alerting you to this and when we will return.
That will then give you the option to contact another team member if you would prefer not to wait for a reply.

We will only do necessary work on your family law matter

If you want us to send you an email confirming our conversation after each phone call, we will do that.

However, most times that is not necessary, so unless you ask us to do it or there is a genuine need for us to do so, we won’t.

We will keep you in the loop about your family law matter

We will send you a copy of everything we send to the other lawyer or third parties on your matter.

We won’t charge you for sending it to you.

We will send you a copy of anything we receive from the other lawyer, as soon as possible after receiving it.

This might mean that your family lawyer has not yet read and considered it.
But, unless you ask us not to,
we think it is important that you have all the correspondence as soon as possible,
even if we can’t immediately give you advice about it.

We will help you reach agreement

Our job is to help you reach a legally binding family law agreement.

We will not assume you have a conflict or dispute.
It is for you to tell us if you are in dispute.

That is not our assumption to make.

And we certainly have no intention of creating conflict where there is none.

We’re passionate about this.

Even if your kids are now grown up, you don’t stop being a family – ever!

The nature of the family changes,
but once you have kids, you have a tie, forever.

Weddings, christenings, graduations, 21st birthdays.

All of those milestones are in our minds when we work with you, to try to avoid creating conflict.
